Torch Run

Last Saturday we participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run that is sponsored by the law enforcement agencies across the state. The weather ended up being beautiful for event, even though it had been raining for two days prior and started raining again on the drive home. We walked it as a family. Logan was in the monkey pouch and although we brought the stroller, Micaiah walked almost the entire 3 miles, only riding in the stroller long enough to eat a little bit of his lunch. One of the Trooper sargeants let Micaiah walk his pug, Hector, who had also come to waddle along. It was his first time getting to walk a dog all by himself, since Bella tends to just pull him over, and he was so excited. At the end of the run Logan won a prize for being the youngest participant (Micaiah picked out a baseball keychain for him), and Micaiah got a new Sesame street book with all his favorite monsters in it. It was a good day.
Here are a few pics of our sweet boys...

Boogie Man

The following conversation took place tonight as I was cleaning up the kitchen after dinner:

Micaiah: Did you see that boogie? Did you see that boogie in my nose, Mommy?

Me: (I was really focused on what I was doing, so after taking a second to process what he was saying...) Do you have a boogie in your nose, Baby?

Micaiah: No, I just had one. I just pulled it right out.

Me: (Trying to figure out if he had just said what I thought he said...) You pulled it out of your nose?

Micaiah: Yeah.

Me: What did you do with it?? ...Did you put it in the garbage?

Micaiah: No. I just pulled it right out, and I just put it on the wall.

Lovely. I had him show me where he put it, which he did very matter of factly, seeing absolutely nothing wrong with wiping boogers on the wall... and then I handed him a tissue and promptly had him remove it from its new home, and march it over to the trash. We then discussed the fact that we do NOT wipe boogies on the wall, and what to do next time if he should happen to find a crusty lodged in his nostril. Ah, the joys of boys... at least he didn't eat it.

Mr. Fish

For those who don't know, it turns out our son, Micaiah Fisher, was very aptly named, as the boy is a fishing fanatic. It started when he was about one and a half and went out on the boat silver fishing in Seward, and hasn't stopped since. He literally fishes all day long, everyday. Well, recently there was sport show in Soldotna with a trout pond, and Micaiah got to catch his first real fish! The show ended an hour earlier than they had advertised, so while we had been saving it for a surprise at the end, we ended up hearing their closing announcement, and just barely made it out there before they closed the pond for the day. There was only time for him to catch one fish, and he was very, very sad when it was time to go, but he loved it. He even received a little packet in the mail certifying his first catch. Unfortunately, we didn't get very good pictures as I was holding Logan, who was asleep, and trying to keep the wind from blowing the blanket off of him, while taking the picture, but here he is, so very excited and not the least bit afraid to grab the line or touch the trout. We are so proud of you, Fish!!
